FYI: We're planning to take down the banner for SGA President Richard Riley by Thursday and get it to him by Friday (Saturday at the latest: we really need to coordinate schedules and see who's available to accompany the banner to the hospital when), so if you're planning to sign it and have not done so already, you'll have opportunities to do so through the next two days.

The turnout has been really fantastic thus far, and I'm sure that he's going to be really pleased and gratified to see how many people are rooting for him to get better. Thanks so much to everyone who's come out to sign it or leave a message thus far!

People have been raising some really good questions about the KJ network to which I know I'd like to get some answers: particularly those that relate to what, exactly, we're allowed to say on here.

The FAQ and TOS sections don't have a speck of detail about the level of privacy that students have on here other than the fact that you can actually make some things private, and frankly, I think that's a huge oversight on the part of the people administrating the network. I don't mean to be an alarmist about it, but it's completely possible that it's within their power to be monitoring what we say, even if it's private or filtered to a smaller group of people. In some cases, yeah, maybe it's a good thing. If there are serious threats or plans being made against other people on campus, I can appreciate why the administration should be able to crack open our private posts, but I think we should get some sort of written guarantee from the administration that they won't be reading (or punishing us) for what we have to say on here. We should be able to figure out, without any guesswork, exactly where we stand on this.

In any case, I'll be e-mailing the admin people about this to see if we can't get an explanation. I actually suggest e-mailing the admins yourself if you're similarly concerned about this. One guy standing on a soapbox at a street corner never really gets people to take things seriously, so strength in numbers is always a good policy.

Oh, hello! This one almost had my name on it, didn't it? They're getting better, you know. You've got to admit it! They are getting better. )
